Welcome to the Tyne Valley Film Festival, where cinema comes to life in the heart of England's stunning Tyne Valley region.

Founded in 2019 by the now Head of Cinema at Dundee’s DCA, David Nixon, our annual festival is a true celebration of cinema that unites communities and showcases the best of both contemporary and classic films.

At the Tyne Valley Film Festival, community and collaboration is at the core of our mission. We believe in the power of film to connect, inspire, and create lasting memories. As we embark on our fourth edition in 2024, our dedication to fostering a sense of togetherness through the art of storytelling remains at the heart of everything we do. We are thrilled to have partnered with numerous community organisations over the years, from village hall film clubs to esteemed cultural institutions. In 2024, we are excited to extend our reach even further, collaborating with more film clubs than ever before and introducing new partner venues, like the prestigious Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle.

Since 2019 we have proudly screened over 80 films throughout the valley. From the influential silent films of the turn of the century to recent big-screen blockbusters and hidden auteur gems, there’s something for everyone in our programme. Our exclusive preview screenings also give our audiences the chance to be the first in the region to see new cinematic treats.

Led by The Forum Cinema Hexham and their General Manager, Clare Mwande, our dedicated team works tirelessly to make each edition a success. The programme is curated by Programme Manager, Faye Carr-Wilson, working with the community to bring a diverse lineup of films and events to the festival. Marketing and graphic design is skilfully orchestrated by our Marketing Manager, Chris Kelly. Together, they bring a wealth of experience and passion to create an unforgettable cinematic experience for our audience.

Join us as we continue to weave the cinematic tapestry of the Tyne Valley, bringing people together, fostering a love for film, and creating memories.
