About Us
Our Story
Tyne Valley Film Festival is an annual 2-week community celebration of film that spans the entire Tyne Valley.
The festival, now in its 5th year, was first founded in 2019 by former Forum Cinema manager and now Head of Cinema at Dundee Contemporary Arts, David Nixon.
The festival continues to be led by The Forum Cinema Hexham team where community and collaboration is always at the core of our mission. Each year we work with rural film clubs, community groups and cultural venues to bring an exciting and diverse programme of cinematic events to audiences across Northumberland.
The 5th edition of Tyne Valley Film Festival takes place March 14th -28th 2025.
Tyne Valley Film Festival is led by the Forum Cinema Hexham
Having first opened its doors in 1937, the Forum Cinema is now Northumberland's only remaining full-time independent cinema. Located in the heart of Hexham, The Forum strives to create community through cinema with screenings of blockbuster hits, independent gems, live theatre and much more.
