Searching for Light

With post-film Q&A

Forum Cinema Hexham   /   Friday 27th March

Screening of Searching for Light followed by Q&A with astronomer Gary Fildes.

Searching for Light charts Gary Fildes' journey from Sunderland’s building sites, through the darkest, driest desert on the planet, to the greatest scientific experiment ever attempted by mankind.

The documentary follows Gary on a journey of a lifetime as he travels through the Chilean Atacama Desert visiting the World’s largest observatories that sit under the darkest skies on Planet Earth.

His ultimate goal is to understand the importance of dark skies and how best to preserve humanity’s window into the Cosmos so that he can protect the dark skies back in the UK.
